CampUs Terms and Conditions

CampUs is a nonprofit initiative dedicated to providing a secure and efficient way for students, staff, and faculty to report incidents of antisemitism. While we do work with partner organizations (including legal-support providers and research collaborators), CampUs itself is not a law firm and does not offer legal representation or advice. Please read this Disclaimer and Waiver carefully before using the CampUs app or submitting any reports. By accessing or using the CampUs app, you agree to the following terms:

1. Purpose of CampUs

1.1 Overview

CampUs’s goal is to streamline the reporting and response process for antisemitic incidents. When you submit a report, CampUs staff and our trained fellows may:

● Collect and verify relevant details.

● Provide guidance, support, and referrals.

● Forward the report to partner organizations (which may include legal-support providers or emotional-support professionals) when further action or specialized assistance is needed, and agreed upon to be contacted.

1.2 Forwarding Incidents to Partner Organizations

By submitting a report through the CampUs app, you acknowledge and agree that CampUs will share your report and associated information with one or more partner organizations for review. No partner organization is automatically your legal representative and any legal consultation or representation they may offer is subject to that organization’s own intake procedures and discretion.

2. No Attorney-Client Relationship

2.1 No Legal Representation

Neither CampUs nor any of its employees, volunteers, fellows, directors, or officers are acting as your attorney or providing legal advice by virtue of your use of the CampUs platform. Use of the CampUs app and any communications with CampUs do not create an attorney-client relationship.

2.2 Partner Organizations

Communication or interaction with any partner organization does not establish an attorney-client

relationship unless explicitly agreed to in writing under that organization’s legal representation policies. Any expression from CampUs or any of our partner organizations regarding the strength or viability of your claim is opinion only and should not be construed as legal advice or a guarantee of any outcome. Affiliated organizations adhere to data security and privacy standards and are committed to the CampUs mission: SHIELD, NJAC, Brandeis Center, NCRI.

3. Confidentiality and Data Use

3.1 Confidential Information

CampUs respects your privacy and will keep your name, contact information, and other identifying details confidential unless:

● Subject to Section 1.2 herein, You give express written permission to share it further, or

● We are legally compelled by a court order, law enforcement request, or other governmental directive.

3.2 Data Sharing and Storage

All reports and data transmitted to partner organizations will be handled in accordance with each entity’s privacy and data security policies. CampUs data storage complies with industry standards, CampUs employs encryption and restricted access to protect your information but cannot guarantee absolute security. Any and all transmission of personal information is encrypted using Secure Socket Layer (SSL), the industry-standard encryption technology. Encryption provides a secure means to protect information as it passes over the Web between servers. By submitting your report, you acknowledge that your information may be reviewed by multiple parties for the purpose of addressing and responding to your report.

3.3 Third-Party Access

CampUs may at times engage other companies or individuals to perform certain activities on our behalf, such as assistance in correcting hardware problems, off-site storage of information for disaster recovery, website hosting, or technical assistance regarding operating systems, browsers, or other non-CampUs software with which CampUs might interact. CampUs will provide such third parties access to your personal information only (i) when such access is necessary to accomplish the activity for which we have engaged the third party; and (ii) when the third party is contractually bound to us: (a) to use the information only in connection with accomplishment of the activity for which they’ve been engaged and (b) to provide administrative, physical and technical safeguards to protect the confidentiality and security of the information.

3.4 Aggregated Insights

CampUs and its research partners may compile anonymized or aggregated data from reports for research, advocacy, training, and policy development purposes, or for any other legally permissible purposes consistent with our security commitments. Your personally identifying information will not be disclosed in such contexts without your consent.

▢ I consent to allow CampUs to use anonymized or aggregated data from my report for the purposes described above.

4. Disclaimer of Liability

4.1 No Guarantees or Warranties

We disclaim any and all warranties, whether express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement to the fullest extent of applicable law. CampUs does not guarantee any specific outcome from submitting a report, nor can we assure that your case will be resolved in a specific manner or time frame.

4.2 Limitation of Liability

CampUs’s involvement, or that of our partner organizations, does not extend or toll any statute of limitations or filing deadlines. CampUs is supplementary and users should promptly seek professional legal advice without assuming CampUs will meet immediate legal needs.

5.2 No Assurance of Success

Neither CampUs nor its partner organizations assume any responsibility for missed legal deadlines or potential claims that might be forfeited. Even if a partner organization elects to assist you, there is no guarantee they will continue representation or achieve a desired outcome, nor will CampUS be liable for any service or outcome performed by a partner organization.
