  • Definition: a formal statement or decision adopted by the student government that expresses the collective opinion or stance on a particular issue or situation.

  • Process: typically proposed and debated within the student government, often in  A general assembly or meeting. They require a majority vote to be adopted.

Step 2 - Resolutions:

  • Definition: a formal proposal for new policies, changes to existing policies, or the allocation of funds.

  • Process: typically introduced by members of the student government, debated in committee meetings or general assemblies, and then voted on. If a bill passes, it becomes part of the student government's policies or regulations.

  • Outcome: Once approved, bills can lead to new initiatives, programs, or changes in student governance and operations.

Step 3 - Referendum:  (SEE ADDITIONAL SECTION)

  • Definition: A referendum is a process by which the entire student body directly votes on specific issues or proposals.

  • Process: Referenda can be initiated by the student government or through a petition by a certain percentage of the student body. The proposal is put to a vote during student elections or special voting periods.

  • Outcome: The result of the referendum is thought to reflect the majority opinion of the student body on the issue, and the student government is usually obligated to act according to the outcome.
